Wonderfactory is proud to present the most adventurous and imaginative toy photographers from around the world. They are artists from all walks of life who have evolved their love of toys, and used their imagination and creativity to push their hobby towards the emergence of this most contemporary art form.

Shelly Corbett

“My aim is to reveal the secret world of these toys and along the way tell a few stories. Some of these stories might be true, or at the very least, they will feel familiar. I hope that my images will remind you that there is magic in the world.”
Shelly Corbett
Wonderfactory Artist, Seattle, USA

Shelly Corbett (b. 1964) has been a professional fine arts photographer in Seattle for over 20 years. In her early career, she focused on the beauty of human form through her underwater portrait photography. In 2012, a twist of fate and creative energy drew her into the world of toy photography, where she has continued her artistic voyeurism to offer intimate glimpses into the world of her LEGO minifigures. Many regard Shelly as the photographer that started the wave of intimate story-telling with LEGO minifigures that is now the favourite theme for thousands of toy photographers.

Shelly is considered one of the pioneers in building up the international toy photography community, having started the community blogs StuckInPlastic.com and ToyPhotographers.com. Together with Belgium Boris Vanrillaer, and Finnish heavyweight toy photographer Vesa Lehtimaki, she also organised the United State's very first fine art LEGO photography exhibition in the Bryan Ohno Gallery in Seattle, Washington in 2015.

Over the years, Shelly has developed considerable influence over the community, with strong online presence on Instagram and Google+. The ToyPhotographers.com blog is also a recognised LEGO Fan Media site, which has allowed her to work with the LEGO Ideas team on the product launches for the Ship in a Bottle (21313) and Tron: Legacy (21314) sets.

She continues to inspire the community by organising yearly meet-ups of toy photographers in the United States, and has given talks promoting toy photography at LEGO conventions.

Over the course of her long arts career, she has participated in nearly 50 gallery and art exhibitions throughout the United States. Her works have been published in magazines, dailies and portals, as well as on the cover of several books. Shelly is a recognized Google+ Creator and a content collaborator with Wonderfactory.
